I'm selling my 1980 John Deere 2240 2WD. It has no FEL, but has under 750 hours, and in good condition. It has a factory sun top with ROP and a rear remote. I started at $9,900, and then down to $8,500 on craigslist a couple months ago with no luck. I relisted it at $7500 today and have two interested buyers already. Am I giving it away at $7500??

Thanks for any input.

If those interested parties don't workout I would be interested in it. Been looking for a tractor to use for bush hogging in this size. Pm me when you find out the fate of the other interested parties. Got any pics?

32yr old 2wd drive low hour tractors just arnt worth what they used tobe.your right on the mark with $7500 for your tractor.

If you can't get $7500 out of it, keep it. It is worth more than that as a backup. And with that low of hours, is almost new.... :)

I think that number would be a close starting point if it had a loader, though I'd expect to be negotiated down a bit. Without a loader, I think you are still overpriced.

yes im prolly over priced on my guess a good bit.but it sounds like a slightly used tractor thats still like new.the truth is id keep the tractor if it was me.because its not worth much over $4000 with or w/o the loader.

I would have paid that 18 years ago when I bought my 2030. But now about $6000 would be tops.
I assume it's 8spd collar shift, not a reverser.

If you are getting responses from the $7500 listing price then negotiate from there. See if someone is willing to pay enough for you to part with it. I know that sounds like a silly answer but thats the way it is. I have an older Deere 820 with canopy in good shape I am considering selling and am in the same boat. Probably could have traded it in when I bought the 4520 but didn't. Nice to have a spare tractor for backup when needed but most of the time it sits, better for someone else to buy and use.
