MF Models: 275, 285 & 290 - I need them in boxes for shipping.

Dear all,

I need 3- 5 Massey Ferguson 275 or 285 or 290 for shipping outside, specifically I am looking to buy from either UK or Holand. I heard that the tractors can be bought in boxes, and can be re-assembled at destination.

I have 3 questions:
Are MF is the best farm equipment for the tropics in Africa? which model of the three (275, 285, 290) is the best?
What are the prices range for new MFs' models above?

Is there any thing that these tractors can be bought in boxes, and can be re-assembled at destination?

The Massey tractors you are looking at are great machines. As for which one is the best of the 3 I would say the 285 as it is not under powered and not over powered for its size. With the Perkins engine you will be able to run in the worst of conditions without any issues. The transmission that i have used on a Massey 255 is the 8x2 and it is rock solid. The other option on them is the Multi-Power partial Power-shift 12x4. For a price you will probably be in the range of $8000 to $14 000 dependent on condition and options.

Might be wise to see if any tractor brand is already represented or common in the area you are shipping to. GM might make the best pickup trucks but if every other truck within 1000km is a Toyota, keeping the GM truck going maybe difficult.
Also it would probably be best to have the tractors thoroughly gone over here, and then shipped.

Not sure about in boxes but these guys been doing rebuilt MF's for export for decades from hereford UK!

Can't go wrong with a 290
