Both are very good engines, used around the world in all sorts of equipment.

Re: kubota vs Yonmar
My JD has nearly 1,000 running hours on the Yanmar diesel and still performs like new, but had I not chosen that make of tractor I would have gone with a Kubota. IMO either brand of engine will provide great service and reliability if properly maintained and not abused. But I honestly cannot say if either is what you would call "better". Why are you asking, are you considering purchasing?
Always be willing to admit your shortcomings, there is no shame in not knowing how to do something. The shame is in NOT admitting you don't know how to do it.
If you have a small truck, limit yourself to small loads, if you want to carry the big stuff, get a big truck.
Never be ashamed of making a mistake. The only people who never (bleep) up are people who never try to do something new.

Re: kubota vs Yonmar
Both are top notch...
I owned a YM 1700 for 14 years that had 667 hours when purchased and 1200 when traded...
That thing never had a bolt turned on the motor...
I would put Yanmar and Kubota as 1 and 1A...
Get the one you like best and don't worry...
I'm running a Shibaura now in a NH 1720 and so far it is just as good too...
