Fumetsu 30HP 4wd, are they any good
Have just seen an ad for the above, reads pretty good. What I would like to know is if they are any good and if they compare to the Foton 254. One thing that worries me is that the hydraulic pump capacity is only 14l/min. Seems low to me. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Geoff

Re: Fumetsu 30HP 4wd, are they any good
I've never heard on them. Is their a dealership/support in your region? How easy will it be to get parts and necessities for it? I had a friend who bought a Dragon tractor years ago from a local dealer, but they didn't carry the line- I don't know how they got the tractor. He had issues later on, and took over a year to find parts for it, and they came in wrong. It took another 6 months or so to get the correct parts, and they had been changed enough that they didn't work right (an idler shaft for the 4WD transfer case). Point being, if you don't have good, reliable, long term support, it doesn't matter how good the tractor is. Sooner or later, you are going to have trouble.

It appears that there is a dealer in Australia, so availibility to you must be a possibility.

Looks a lot like the Nor-trec and Jinma tractors, and there site states they are made in China so they might all be the same! That said lots of people have good luck with them.

this is illegal in australia
as all goods sold in australia are covered by the

Re: Fumetsu 30HP 4wd, are they any good
Hi Geoff
I am new to this site and this is my first post, but I thought I might be able to help with this one. I have five acres at Mt Marshall which is in your area. I just bought a Foton 254 and had it delivered last week. So far I have only spent five hours on it slashing long grass. I spent a lot of time researching tractors before making my decision. I went to Ag shows, tractor outlets and spent hours on the internet. I was very tempted by the Femutsu (also sold as Agrison), mainly due to its price. Why i chose the Foton was because it kept coming up with good reviews and the Femutsu didn't. Okay, there might have been few problems, but compared to stories other Chinese tractor owners had to tell, they all seem pretty minor.
To say that all Chinese tractors come out of the same factory, or that they are all the same is incorrect. Some research on the internet will show you that Chinese tractors vary a great deal. The Foton has been developed over quite a while for the Western market. It is probably the best finished of all the Chinese tractors. Apart from that, it now has the reliability for its distributors to provide a 3 year warranty.
After the first day of using my new tractor, the FEL control developed a major hydraulic fluid leak. Also, from the original operation, the PTO had no control when lowering, that is, it just dropped. I contacted National Machinery Traders and they had a service mechanic out to it yesterday (Sunday). Just before he arrived, I discovered that the coolant level in the radiator was exceptionally low. Before even starting work on the tractor the service mechanic, Matt, spent quite some time answering all the questions I had about operation of various aspects of the tractor. He replaced the FEL control unit with another new one, adjusted the oil flow for more control on lower for the PTO, and found and fixed the coolant leak. All this is part of the 12mth parts and labour ON SITE warranty that National Machinery Traders offer (this is followed by another two years of warranty in which they will replace any faulty part but not include the labour). Matt is an independent contractor who specialises in Chinese tractors. He was interesting to talk to and his comments left me feeling very confident that I had made the right choice with the Foton and with buying it where I did. National Machinery Traders do a Dyno on the engine with the original Chinese lubricants still in it and then replace all tractor fluids with Australian standard oils.
Admittedly, I am only a newby in this area, but from my experience, to answer your question, I would go for the Foton and get it from a reputable dealer with a sound warranty and back up service.
Peter

Re: Fumetsu 30HP 4wd, are they any good
In my view whether it has a parts & labour warranty does not matter a great deal - after all, I don't know of any tractor dealers who will ever warrant a clutch - reason being: abour 99% of the time clutches blow because of operator riding it. So even if your fumetsu warranty included labour, I highly doubt that they would ever cover a clutch (correct me if I am wrong). With any machine you just gotta be on top of it!! tighten everything up before you jump in, top up all your oils etc. You will never have the need to get anything done under warranty - don't forget that chinese tractors ( I own one myself) are so darn simple!! Even if something does go wrong, most people likely myself, get our hands a little dirty and its back to the field.
