First Post here and would like some input.
First I have had nothing but a 9N and then an 8N for farm use since I was a kid and that has been 50 years ago. Now I need a new modern tractor for our Goat operation. So I have narrowed it down to some specs.
1. 35-40hp
2. 30-35PTOHP
3. FEL

Needs to be able to lift round bales.
Due to my previouse tractor experience I reall would rather have a 8X2 gear shift, that is because I don't know enough about shuttleshift and such.
I do not think I need 4wd either. What I need is a good old heavey framed reliable tractor without a lot of maintenance junk to break or bells and tricks.

I have narrowed it down a bit ( in no particular order)
1. LSg3038 $16800 w/fel
2. MF 2605 $17000 w/fel ( $11900 w/o fel) ?? Why is the FEL so high on MF's 66" bucket
3. Mah 4035 $ ??????? Can't get a quote, they say come on in and we'll talk.

So what say the crew about the list..
I will be shreading, draging and stacking hay. Cleaning out barns and lots. Just general farm utility use.

Have you considered Kubota MX 4700 or 5100? They are a little higher hp than your range but are good tractors. They will handle round bales with ballast in the tires and on the 3 point hitch.

Check out the JD 5000 series. Basic tractor with plenty of capabilities. Bought mine New in 2008 and tractor w/o FEL was around 14k. FEL was another 5k. Decent used machines for around 15k with FEgood luck.

How about the Price on the MF 2605 w/fel the over the phone quote is $17000. Breakdown is $11900 for the Tractor only. Does that seem reasonible??

Those numbers look a bit off (low) to me, but they're too high to be 800mm specs.

LS shows the max lift for the R3039 at 2,250@ the pivot pin.
Kubota shows max lift for the MX 4700 as 2,443 @ the pivot pin.
MF shows max lift for the 2605 as 2,650, 2,859, and 2,952 @ the pivot pin for the L200, L210, and DL250 loaders .

Pulled those right off the published paperwork. Might be wrong, might be right.
I talked to the Mah dealer and he has a 4025 2wd with Koyker fel $15200.00 4025 2wd with Mahindra fel $16500.00
Don't know much about the FEL's.
Anyone have any comments on these. Wife says I have to buy this weekend.. She's so pushy
