Default Kubota L185DT

Hi Folks,
Someone in my area has an L185DT with a loader for sale for $6,500. I can't find the specifications for that machine as they haven't made it in some time, but I beleive it is an 18 diesel 4WD. He says it has 375 hours on it, which seems pretty low for an older tractor. Anyone know where I can get the skinny on the weight, size and other features of this tractor? I was hoping to bee able to buy a larger horse power machine, like the B7500 or b7800., but maybe the extra weight on this c series make up for some of that? sure is a lot less money and I need to buy a bunch of attachments still. Thanks !
Mark L.

Mark, you can go to http://www.tractortips.com and look it up there. I know nothing about the accuracy of their data, but they show that model to be made 1977-1982, 12.5 PTO hp, and 17 engine hp. 6.00-14 front tires, 9.5-24 rear tires, 8 speed forward, 2 reverse, 2 cylinder diesel. Weight not given.

I run my 4' brush hog with my 15 hp Mitsubishi with no problem . Don't let that be your only reason for not buying . (15 engine hp/13 pto hp)

That's right...I'm running a 60 inch cutter through pretty thick brush hooked to a tractor 4 HP under the (rotary cutter) minimum requirements without too much trouble. Just go a bit slower...it'll work OK.

Mark, I agree with the other guys. I'm not familiar with the L185 but I used a 4' Bush Hog Squealer behind a B7100 that was 16 engine and 13 PTO hp and it was quite adequate for my uses.

I have an old 10-page Kubota L185 sales brochure. I have no idea how old the brochure is as I received several brochures in 1997? with the purchase of my first used Kubota (B7100D).

The brochure only shows a 2wd L185 and makes no mention of a 4wd option. The models in the brochure are L185FP (farm tires) and L185TP (turf tires). However, the "D" in the "DT" model number suffix you give usually indicates 4wd for Kubota tractors.

The engine and PTO hp values given in the previous posts agree with the sales brochure. It has 8 forward and 2 reverse gears. The weight listed in the brochure for the 2wd L185 is 1628 lbs.

Standard Equipment: 3-speeed rear PTO with one-way clutch and PTO guard. One-speed front PTO shaft. Differential lock. (and more stuff like 12v battery and air cleaner).

Optional Equipment: Power Steering, Draft control, Creep Speed Transmission (I think that this adds a Hi-Low to the transmission for 16 forward and 4 reverse gears).

Hopefully it'll have power steering with the FEL.
