What if I said our original budget was $20,000?
Honestly?

Kubota L4400 DT (Used with 300a hours and manual) $20,750+tax

Does this one have FEL, ag or industrial tires, 4-WD?

A fine utility tractor. Low hours.

Kubota L4400 DT does have loader, skid steer coupler and 72" square back bucket. Haven't heard back if it's 4wd or?

What is better more hp or a heavier, wider tractor?

Maggie,

The Kubota L4400 sounds to be worth investigating. The DT says it is a 4wd with mechanical/manual transmission. The physical size, weight and horse power of the L4400 may well be a good fit for your needs.

There should be room for price negotiating at $20,750 or perhaps a used implement that you can use, thrown into the deal.

Ok. So here are my options:
Mahindra 5035 HST $28,990
Mahindra 4035 HST $23,590
Kubota MX5100 HST (new) $32,262.38
Kubota MX5100 HST (Harvest rental with 156 hrs and 1a hydraulic remote) $31,400.56
Kubota L4400 DT (Used with 300a hours and manual) $20,750+tax

Do the prices for the two MX5100s include backhoes???

See, people keep saying an MX5100 isn't $10k more than my LS, but I only paid $21,500 for mine new....with FEL, QA bucket, dual remotes, HST, rear work light, adjustable 3pt lift arms and stabilizer bars, etc. I keep hearing people suggest they can buy an MX5100 new for $25-27K, but I'm not seeing that.

Depends on what you're trying to do, and the conditions...there really isn't a stock answer. Some jobs put traction at a premium, and others HP.

To me, HP, you can always add weight and widen tires, but you can't easily add HP
