Kubota B-2650
I am looking at purchasing a Compact tractor for our 4 acres for general utility work.

This will be my first tractor so any guidance would be appreciated. I am considering
a Kubota B-2620, B2920, or a B2710.

There is an '02 B2710 currently for sale in my area with approximately 600 hours. It has
been used for mowing fields since new. My assumption is that 600 hours of mowing may have
put a strain on this tractor??

I was also surprised to see that a 2010 B2620 with 160 hours sold for $12,500 this week while this
2002 B2710 with 600 hours has an asking price of $11, 500.

Wondering how do the models compare, what is a fair price to pay for the 2710?

Also, is there another make or model that I should be looking at?

I see Mahindras, Kiotis, New Hollands, and Cub Cadets in my area, but I am not familiar with them?

I can't give you any first hand info on the two Kubotas you're looking at, but can get this started with a couple comments. First of all, 600 hours isn't much use on a well cared for diesel. Depending on the fields, it could be a creampuff or it could be something to be wary of.

To find a good deal on a nuce used tractor in my area takes a lot of patience or luck. The last two tractors I bought were new because the nicer used tractors were priced too close to new units with full warranties.

Those three models are very similar in capability. I'm not familiar with the 2710, but I'm sure someone here can chime in....does it have a 2 or 3-range HST? The other two models have a 3-range HST, and that is very helpful with smaller machines that only have some much power/torque.

I wouldn't worry about 600 hours of mowing as long as routine maintenance was taken care of. I'd get a quote on a new Kioti CK27HST before deciding...you might be surprised.

As the GMan suggested: condition = ?
Tractors don't depreciate the same way that cars do.
As long as they can do an honest days work, they seem to retain a lot of their new price.
Other pricing factors to consider:
FEL included?
Backhoe?
HST vs Gear?
4wd vs 2wd?
You can do your own comparison between the 2 models by looking them up on TractorData.com.

I have a B2920, and consider it pretty much the same as the B2620. But I looked for the B2710 info on Tractor data, and it's actually slightly more tractor (weight, 3 PH capacity, etc.) than the B2920 except in HP. Anyway, baby grand's advice is about as good as it gets, dig the comp data out and compare it with the uses you have in mind. I know I could use the extra 3PH capacity the 2710 has.

Not if well maintained

There can be a big difference between "sold for" and "asking price". The B2620 is the successor to my '07 B7610. In early '09 I bought my '07 B7610 (240 hrs) w/ FEL, 5' Woods Boxblade and the lightly used '07 Hudson trailer for $11.5K. I have seen sold prices for the same B7610 around $11.5K, the same trailer $2K to $3K

Tell us about your uses, do they have FEL's? Mower, etc. How are the tires? Fronts can run $250, rears $750?

Kiotis are pretty good but generally heavier, what you want for plowing but not for mowing the front yard.

I owned a B2910, big brother to the B2710. Considerably more tractor than the new B2620 tractor. 600 hours is barely broke in for this tractor. The resale value on the older B2710 and B2910 models reflects the value and respect owners have for those models. Given a choice at equal dollars, I'd go for the older B2710 or a B2910 if you can find one.

Thanks for the information.

Also looking at a B2630 with 250 hours and NO FEL.

How does the 2630 compare with the 2710?

Looks as if the new Kubota FEL will run around $3500.

Is there another brand loader to consider?

2710...600 hours...for 11,500.
or
2005 B2630...250 hours for around $13,500?

The 2630 is probably a closer compare to the 2710 (than the 2620/2920). Those 2 may be functionally equivalent.

Where can I find a way to access the specs and compare different Kubota tractor models? Especially the models that are no longer being sold-like the 2630, 2710, etc..
For example in what ways are the 2630 and 2710 models similar and how do they differ from the current 26 and 2920's?
