I could use some help deciding which tractor to buy. I am looking at a 2009 5075E with 317 hours for $31,500 and a 2011 5065E with 250 hours for $27,900. Would you say that the extra 10 hp would be worth the extra money even though it is 2 years older and has 67 more hours on it? I am having trouble deciding between the two. Thanks!

I like the extra HP in case you want to do more with tractor, 10HP adds up off PTO if haying, plowing...etc
Price looks good on the 2009 5075E, I just priced JD5083E and JD5065E both 2013 and the numbers above look accurate

The hours would not concern me. That's a month of light use. The two years would only mean it will need a battery sooner. If the 5065e will do everything you want to do, $3,600 will be saved. That's the one I would get,but if they were closer priced it would be a harder decision.

if your going to buy 1 of the 2 id say buy the 5075 for the extra hp.since theres not that much $ between the 2.an id price both tractors an see wich 1 you save the most money on by buying it used.

OP, I'm not sure if you made a decision yet or not, but I would strongly encourage you to have your local JD dealer quote you on a NEW 5075E.

That's a very high price for a used 5075E, IMO. There was a 2009 around here with 380 hours for $27,900 a few months back.

My dealer quoted me $34,100 for a brand new 5075E with 553 FEL. I then worked him down a little from there.

Also, his quote for the 5075E was only $370 more than his quote for a 5065E. Thus, I went with the 10 extra HP for $370! :D

But I would also encourage you to go with the more HP. 10 more HP on the PTO makes a big difference, like a poster said above.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I bought a brand new 5055E last year for less than $23,000. I don't see how a used tractor even though bigger is worth what there asking. I bet you could by new for that price.

Hey I'm new to post on here but been reading on here for a long time. I don't know if you have made a choice yet or not but 2 days ago they delivered my 5065e and the driver told me when the put it on the dyno its was showing 65hp at the pto and the pto wasn't at 540 yet. I've also been told the 5065 and 5075 are the same tractor just more$$. Hope it helps.

Partially true, yes. The 5075E does have more HP on the engine and PTO - because of the fuel delivery. Some on here have said they have done some after-market adjustments to crank up the fuel / air delivery to get the 5065E up to 5075E specs. That, of course, voids the warranty!

My 5075E was *only* $371 more brand new than a 5065E... so I just paid that small amount more and got the tuned-up engine straight from the factory.
