What model is this tractor?

Hi All,

Am looking to buy a tractor and have found one which should meet my needs.
Now, am not sure if the model I am being told is the correct one.
Please help me. The guy says its an MF 245, but I believe they all had 3 cyl engines?
This one has a 4 cyl diesel engine and he says the bhp is close to 55-60hp.
How far true is this?
I have attached two pics I took with my cellphone as an afterthought, mind you, it's still being restored.
Are they enough to tell?

You might try posting in the MF forum here, or on ytmag, the Massey Ferguson forum there.

Just a quick google job, but it shows about 45 drawbar hp, and 43 pto hp.

The MF 245 came with a Perkins 3 cyl diesel or a Continental 4 cyl. gas engine. The MF 255 had a 4 cyl diesel. Tractordata.com has serial numbers listed if you can get that you might be able to tell the model.

I guess you can forget the Tractordata site since the 245, 255, 265 models all list the same serial numbers. Looks like you'll have to get the Ser. No. and call a dealer to check what year it is.

Yes it does. The "tractor" part could be anything. Here's where engine serial numbers may come in handy if indeed the engine is original within the tractor frame. perhaps someone more versed in Masseys could suggest a number that may have been stamped someplace on the frame as well.
