Newbie buying a NEW tractor- UT or CUT, that is the question

Congratulations on making a decision, there are several happy JD E Series owners here, couple have added buddy seats for kids grand kids. I really wouldn't worry too much about size or overkill as tractors shrink when you get them on your land. I would recommend a 12/12 and hydraulic shuttle shift, three rear remotes nd third function, but I know cost may require a delay, it did for me.

Paulfun, in my experience HST works best for cutting grass and loader work, but I do understand that your wife might find it easier to work with

Its not me who is looking for advice! But since its been mentioned again I have no difficulty running a shuttle with the finish mower or working a loader on one. In most cases I prefer to have a little more to do with the machine and many jobs are just so boring when running a HST.You have not much to do, its like a motorcycle ride on the interstate is very boring but a quick run down a twisty country road makes you feel alive and one with the machine.

Eventually you will need at least 2 tractors, a larger HP for most jobs and a smaller HP for small jobs and getting through tight spots in the woods. For the first purchase, the larger utility tractor will make life easier in getting jobs done. In a few years, adding the smaller CUT will help getting jobs done around the woods and in tight areas.

True that. Very wise words.

I'm not even allowed to have one tractor let alone two !!
Seriously, I will only ever have one tractor.
Don't even have a spot to store the new one, yet.

A compact tractor certainly has all the functions I need and probably more.
But I need to run trails in 3' of snow; some wet boggy ground, and I absolutely need to be sure not to get stuck.
Hoping that the NH T5050 can roll thru almost anything in its path.
The JD 5075e deal fell through.

Case IH makes the C series, they look very capable, but are a little pricey. Kioti has the RX7320 in Power Shuttle or straight shuttle. I've seen more people begin to get them, they look like very good value. LS is another one worth looking at.

The quotes so far have been higher than I expected: ( incl cab and loader )
Farmall 75c was 75,000.00.........crazy pricey
JD 5075e was 57,000.00
NH Powerstar 49,000.00
Used 2012 NH T5050 55,000.00...... probably too huge

Here's a couple LS quotes at a dealer in my area...

XU5065 PowerShuttle, open station, tier 4: New 65 hp diesel tractor loader snow plow

P7010 shuttle cab, tier 3: New LS P7010 tractor loader

The P7010 is set at a great price, considering the power and features.

Also, don't forget to price a Massey 4608.

Awaiting the Massey quote- should have it later today.
I liked how robust the rear end is, and how the CV joints are encased vs the open boot style of JOhn Deere
