none presently.
Just wondering whether anyone has bought one or what they think of this tractor> Specifically 5085E. John Deere has produced a great video. So far I have not seen any of these tractors at the dealership. Thanks

I don't think the previous 5085 / 5100 E models had an isolated cab - not sure about the '15 models. An elderly neighbor of mine got stuck inside the cab of his 5085E because the door jammed shut on uneven ground. He had to call the dealership he bought it from to come get him out. He also had the dealership install the optional door on the right side in case it happened again so he would have another exit. I see JD did make the sway bars standard equipment. When I was tractor shopping last fall, the sway bars were an option with a price tag of almost $700. The sloping hood should make loader visibility a lot better - the previous models had very little slope and I could not see the loader very well even with seat adjusted to the max.

Looks like a very nice machine.

I agree, it Looks like a really nice machine. A nice option would be a back up camera linked in with that lcd screen. I don't have a camera on my truck but the neighbor does. He can put the ball under the hitch on his camper the first try.

Our dealer talked my wife into driving a 5085E 4wd and Cab. She spent about 15 minutes driving it around in their lot. She got out told me to drive it and we walked back inside tossed him the keys. She said, "I wouldn't trade you our 5065M even for that 5085E", and I agreed with it even though I rarely ever drive the 5065M, she's logged quite a few hours in the Deere. She and our son run a full time cattle and hay operation and were looking for a bit more hp. The 5065M is far and away a superior tractor over the E series. Just take a look at the rear of an E series and an M series and you'll big differences and as for the engine, that's is labeled as the same number of cylinder and displacement in an 5085E and an 5085M everything is mounted differently on the engine, you would think they would use the same engine, maybe it only goes as far as the block or the E engine is built in a different factory than the M engine.

I had things broke on it when it was delivered. Lights/eletrical. Mech came out, thought it was switch. Turns out it was computer issue. Rockshaft valve sprung leak, needed picked up and returned to dealership for that one. All my dealers salesman have an attitude. I tried to trade it on an m. 5085m is alot more expensive than e. They were 1k off my price. I have seen the common brake issues and leaks on here with the e series, scared me to own it after warranty. 60 hours, i decided it was going. Dealer told me some have emission problems and ms have electrical issues near coast. He didnt think an m would be any better for me. The massey im getting isnt much more money and it smoke checks the m model. You have to get an R to compare and thats over 100k! I could write a long list why the massey is superior, but ill stay on topic. The rest of the issues with e were minor. Like sun visor always falling, manual has lots of descrepancies. Like tighten cab bolts every 10 hours, you cant get to one of the 4. Parts are expensive, 4 cab filters and dont even have carbon. Every brand out there has a better tranny, deere seems slow on tranny updates, (4 gears). It never felt refined shifting to me, hard to find gears. Ranges supposidly synced, i tried once and it ground. For the money it would be a great tractor, but the quality just doesnt seem to be there. They made a price point tractor, you get whatyou pay for. I thought id keep it many years. Figured ok, i bought cheap e model, ill get an m. Wasnt reassured about that one either. Jd is expensive. Front weight bracket, right door, air seat, jump seat, telescoping stabs, mirrors, etc. are all options with deere. My new tractor comes standard with all of that. I was expecting more than getting to know my service guys that well after only 60 hours. They just dont seem to really care if you buy their stuff or not; quotes take forever. i enjoyed the tractor, was proud of it, wont miss it when its picked up soon.

The good. So i owned kubota before deere. The 5085e was priced about the same as a 7060 kubota. The cab was nicer on deere, more weight, more power. Tranny and options, plus reliability went to kubota. I went with deere cause im cleaning up some land and its kinda rough with ruts and stumps etc. im not mowing flat green pasture yet. I never looked at massey during these days, i felt the deere was a safer play. Maybe a massey 4610 vs deere would have been a smart choice. I actually thought about trading my deere for one. But when you compare a 4610 to a 5611 its hard to look back. Anyways, when you compare the e to m deere, besides frame, cab, hydros, options, all pretty much the same. So you can save alot of money and get a good size utility tractor. A/c can be a problem in them, mine blew cold as ice. Rear end is solid, i dont think you can hurt it. 4wheel drive is great, but it needs rocked to activate, make sure you engage before you get stuck. One thing i dont like is the 4 wheel drive shaft is what you high center tractor on. I never did it but be careful. I did climb through some deep ruts and it handled them with ease. Jump seat is option, even though its plastic most competitors like massey and kubota dont even have that option in this size machine. I wanted one so it kinda helped rule out others. Color is nice. Plenty of dealers around, online part suppliers galore. Stonger axles and better steering setup than kubota. Thicker cab glass than kubota. Deere has metal cab roof, not plastic. Lighting was good. I liked the h240 loader. In that range tractor if it was flawless and reliable, you couldn't beat it. Its a quality vs cost model like everything else. The sad part is deere doesnt seem to get better spending more money like on the m.

End of the day, glad we all have choices.
