Gone through enough lawn tractors and zero turns to finally come to the conclusion...I need a tractor. Probably didn't hurt teens left for college last year and the sq hay bales, post hole digger duties and 4 foot grass/privet is aging me. Initially looked at Yanmar rebuilds as I live in Al but can't make myself commit to a $12k tag on a 1977 device so I'm back to Kubota land and they have a bunch of L2501's they want to move. It's much taller and heavier than BX but seems to have same flux capacitor. The B26 seems to be the same as the L2501 but then again I'm a newbie. Going to use it keep 5 acre pasture down but horses do a relatively good job at this but need guidance every now and then. Going to use it to move stuff from A to B. I have some hunting land that needs its roads mowed annually and a cut over that I need a walk path annually..(may rent pt70 for this task). So, given that limited use I also need wife to drive it so that probably wipes the Yanmar. She also saw a B26 and said it was huge and she doesn't fit. Welcome advice..direction.

Welcome to the forum. I purchased an L2501 shuttle shift this past April. I use it to cut around 15 acres/keep trails cut and cleared and food plots. 71 acres total. It does everything I need it too and it has only choked down on me one time and that was recent. I had finished planting the green field in front of my house and was pulling a large log to smooth out (cover up) the seed after planting. I wasn't watching and a load of dirt had piled up in front of the log and suddenly the tractor was lugging down to stopping. I had to back up and go the other direction to smooth that out. I've pushed some large logs out of the way down in the woods and in FWD, it does pretty good as long as the log does not outweigh the tractor. I use a PHD/5' finishing mower/bush hog/box blade/6 1/2' disc harrow and it runs all without complaint.

I want to add that the reason I went with the small L model is that I can use the finishing mower to cut around the house and not get the red head all excited by tearing up the yard.

I have a 3301, these are really nice, little machines. Very quick response fel, and a good size for around the house. I don't think you will regret it.

If you are not to mow with it, get the L 2501. For the uses you describe it's perfect.

Thanks folks...kubota's menu looks like a Chinese food shop - too many options. Saw a few comments on "not to mow". What specifically does the L2501 lack to drag a 4-5 bush hog? Will you selected a B2620, why it over an L series? I bog my 26hp husk zturn every time I exit the yard and start on the pasture.

If you have the funds buy a 4-WD Kubota L2501. This 'baby L' is 1,200 pounds heavier than the B's. It will pull and spin a 60" rotary cutter fine.

If you buy an HST transmission your wife should handle an L-2501 just fine after one or two hours of cautious operation.

Absolutely Jeff, HST and 4x4 are must haves. Piranha teeth on the bucket is also a privet killer must have. I see the B is 1200 lbs lighter but about the same height...were is weight diff..frame?

My reply was geared to finish mowing. Sorry for any confusion.

I run a 5' bush hog brand finishing mower behind my L2510 and it runs it great. It will walk right on through a pasture that is 18"-24" high with no problem. Bahai/grass, not saplings or anything like that.

I mow all the time with my 2501 DT. It only stalls out when you run over heavy junipers or a field pine. Mostly, if you can drive over it, then the 60" rotary mower will eat it. I pull two bottom plows and a 5' disk, hillers, furrowers, manure soreader, you name it...
