I think you will be happy with the L2501. I got one last April and it has performed very well for me.

Price out the gear drive. More power. But still a great tractor. Price sounds right.
Personally I love HST & would generally disagree with you. But the L2501 is already underpowered & the extra 15% HST HP tax hurts even more. Might not be a bad thought.

Perhaps, Fallon, at your altitude in Colorado the L2501 may be underpowered.

I am at sea level.

L2501 24.8-horsepower comes at a very low 2,200 RPM from a 100.47 cubic inch engine. Full horsepower, such as it is, is produced 1,300 RPM above idle. Far different from the Kubota 'B' series. L25012 is one of the quietest small tractors in operation because you operate at minimal throttle.

I may be biased through familiarity. My Grand L HST has just 37-horspower to move its 5,400 pounds.

Quite possibly. My L3200 does the job here at over a mile high. Annoyingly slow & making me wish I'd sprung for the L3800 instead on occasion, although not that often. But generally within the acceptable range. I'm sure a 20% ish HP cut would drive me nuts though.

Delivered Friday. Got about 2 hours in. Makes moving wood a lot easier.

So far, so good. The r4's have had no problem in the mud so far. the 4wd is necessary though.
