Serial numbers and what they tell me.

The tractor I'm looking at has this number. M00318X323710
The motor has

LX 770 11081H G99X 117830 XN5XS 7822EG
7822CC The tractor is a JD 318. The motor says that it is a Linmar. Any thoughts on age, etc... would be helpful

The tractor serial number shows it to be a 1985 model. I would guess that it is a replacement engine if it says Linmar on it. The tractor would have originally had an Onan engine. As you may know Onan was bought out by Linmar, as far as I know the two engines are pretty much identical. Hope this helps.
