Default General Forum Posting Guidelines

Hello,

Before posting in the general forums, please read the following guidelines carefully:

1. The general forums are here for people to discuss tractor topics independent of brands and free of brand bias. Always be courteous and respectful of other members, regardless of the opinions or brand preference!

2. Please do not post specific brand questions in these forums. For example, if your question relates only to New Holland, please post it in the appropriate New Holland forum.

If your question relates to the comparison of two (or more) brands, you may post it here (and not in the other brand-specific forums).

If you post in the incorrect forum, your post will be moved to the correct forum.

3. Excessive and/or mindless promotion of "your brand" will not be tolerated. If you do this, your messages will be removed and you could face account suspension or deletion.

4. Please report any abuse of these guidelines in the Feedback Forum, or to me directly via private message.

Excessive and/or mindless promotion of "your brand" will not be tolerated.

This appears to be a sensitive issue to some members and less sensitive to others. Frankly, I did not recognize the problem that was identified in the "It Lasted......" thread, which I'm sure prompted this thread.

This all started about bickering and information given that "veteran members" saw unfit, now we've progressed to brand endorsers. How far do we go to keep members from leaving and not force people out at the same time to satisfy a few? How politically correct do we take this?

Mike,

I'm not wanting to start anything, I just want to know what is and is not acceptable? I looked at the latest "thread" of issue and failed to see any real harm. Maybe I'm just dumb and slow, but I saw no content that should have harmed any feelings let alone initiate "It Last....", maybe Johnday can help me!

Greg; In the thread that I've been referring to is the start of a flame war. There are a few statements made that even I find unbelievable. Now, I'm not brand new, but can still learn on a limited basis, but sometimes ya just gotta think, what are some trying to prove. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Kinda like this; Guy walks in a truck dealers front door. We'll say he's a Ford employe. Get's his "A" plan price, orders his new truck. Truck comes in, picks it up. On the way home he makes a pit stop somewhere. Nother guy comes up and says nice truck, how much you pay for it? !st guy says 30000, 2nd guy says my cousin got the identical truck for 28000. We all know people like that.

Nobody is going to hurt my feelings, others may be hurt. Obviously there are some that have been and no longer are members. When I read things like a $600 bill for a 50 hour checkup, I wonder why am I reading this, and I suspect we see only part of the story. I've got pretty think skin, others don't, but one thing that does get to me, is when my intelligence is insulted. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I don't normally comment on things like this..but we all got to remember:

This is just a forum. Don't take it too seriously

We're all stating nothing more then opinions...no one here is an "Expert" (regardless of the number of posts or length of membership). If anyone makes a decision based upon opinions without doing their research based upon their needs...they'll likely make the wrong decision.

If you don't like someone's opinion, state your opinion and then let it go. No one is going to win a "opinion" war.

Again...TBN is fun..but don't take this too seriously!

When people complain that a person is putting a brand above common sense or making an illogical suggestion simply because they love their brand, then it's excessive.

It would seem to me, some might consider the complaint was as much out of line as the comment was thought to be. I know I read in this forum about an unmentionable cost for a 50 hour service dealing with some extra hydraulic work done. Yes, I have tried to find it with no success, but I assure you it was not en tended to be a fabrication on my part. I never dreamed any adult would take offence, anymore than I have over the oft repeated, can't get Jinma parts comments. I have learned who I read and who I don't.
