Anyone have experience with a \"drop axle\" tractor?

for high-crop work? Just want info on the reliability of a drop axle or drop wheel.

Lot's of hi-crop tractors built. Not sure what the question is, but I suspect if they were built by a major tractor company, they would stand up to the work put up to them.
For awhile, I had a hi-crop Deere, but didn't like being that hi up so went to the utility model which, if I remember right, moved the wheel axle aft rather than down. Much the same castings I believe. Not much ground clearance but a tough tractor and stuck to the hillsides real well.

There are a lot of them around here, but not in private use. Mostly they are owned and used by outfits that sell and apply various sprays to crops already up and growing. Timken had one that had a lift under the belly to haul rolls and/or bars of steel around within the plant, like a rolling "overhead" crane. They seem fairly reliable, or at least they are in use quite a bit at certain times.
