Okay, I've been shopping for a used loader tractor for almost a year and can't find what I consider a reasonably good tractor at a reasonable price. I have 42 Acres, 1/2 mile gravel driveway, main useage for tractor is smoothing the driveway, mowing weeds, etc.
I currently have a 1945 Farmall M that does a great job but I really want a front end loader and live hydraulics and live PTO would be nice.
I called up the Local Montana dealer and they quoted me $25,000 for a 4940 with a front end loader. $29,900 with a cab.
I called the local Kubota dealer and they quoted me $19,500 for a L4400 4wd with a front end loader and no cab. I really wasn't planning on getting a cab anyway. They also have some 0% and 1% interest deals going.
I've always heard good things about Kubotas and the local dealer has been around forever. I feel like the Montana dealer was just shooting a number and I would have to wheel and deal with them to get a real price.
I would like to get some input on these 2 tractors and if the prices are in line or not.
Thanks in advance.
Nathan
[EDIT] I have a 6' light duty rotary mower that I use with my M and a 7' blade for grading. From what I understand a 40 - 45 hp tractor is the range that I need to stick with to continue to use those implements and that also seems reasonable for the size of property that I have [/EDIT]
