best bang for the buck 40-50hp tractor

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Ok, yet again looking for a tractor.

Looking between 40-50 hp, like it to be hydro due to 74 year old father who has never been on a tractor before to feel "useful" to help.

Like to go with FEL, 6' bush hog, and back hoe.

Any recomendations for the "best bang for the buck" for this setup?

Thanks

I have looked at the NH "Boomers". TC40, TC 45 are very nice. very comfortable and very ergonomic. Have your father try getting on and off a few different CUTS.

Just for grins, how about thinking in a totally different direction:

http://power-trac.com/t18class.htm

(1) a PT-1445 with 45HP Duetz diesel at $20K. Add $1150 for the large bucket ($750 for small , $2100 for the 4-in-1, or $2100 for the grapple bucket), then $2,000 for the 6' brush cutter, and $2,000 for the minihoe. That's $25K ballpark, before the 5% discount if you visit the factory to test drive them. Take the money you saved from getting the minihoe instead of the "real backhoe" and get more of the 30 attachments available:

http://power-trac.com/t18attachments.htm

(2) or a PT-2445 with the same 45HP Deutz diesel for $28,440 with the "real" backhoe, then add the choice of bucket and the $2000 for the brush cutter. This would put you slightly over $30K before the 5% discount.

That gets you a "ballpark" 4,000 lb articulated machine with 1800 lbs lift and a full-time 4 wheel drive hydro that will run circles around a normal CUT... they just don't pull ground engaging attachments as well. It's also a machine that puts the attachments up front, with an unobstructed view, so he can easily see and control them...

I would look at a Kubota M4800 or MX5000.

Check out the Massey 1547 with 3 range HST tranmission. It's a nice tractor. Not sure of the MSRP, but I think it's well within your range. 47 engine HP, 36.5 at the PTO.

Just borrowed this from Massey1250's post in another thread about the 1547:
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( 1547 W/ FEL skid steer QA, BH - $31,000.

There are some really nice features to the 1547 like joy stick placement, clear hydro level view and the fact that all my 3 pt attachments are Massey. (not a real issue) )</font>
