Default 5030 vs. 7040

I got the 5030 earlier this year and have over 100 hours of mowing, tree processing, road grading and other tasks.

I need more power and I hate the seat!

I'm thinking of trading up to a 7040. Anybody done the same? Anybody have a seat fix for the 5030? Any downside to the 7040?

I primarily run a Woods RM990 and knock over trees. I really would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Keving

I am currently looking at a l5030 and a M6040. Too bad you didn't get the M series when you bought the 5030, it would have saved you alot of money. The comfort of the cab is worth the difference in price.

Yeah, no kidding! I'm also considering the "air ride" seat. I'm going to sit in one for about a half hour tomorrow at the dealer. I'm tired of my *** being sore from mowing the field. I know I'll appreciate the extra power too...

Pulled the trigger on a 7040 cab. Having the radio, TnT, and toothbar transfered from the 5030. I also ordered the third function valve (the new one), extra remote and the air ride seat option. I think this should solve my two issues: better seat, more power... Any other converts out there?

The M7040 is very nice. You're gonna love it. I have been debating between the 7040 and the 8540. You're one of the many who buy a tractor they think will be big enough only to shortly discover it's not enough tractor and then end up spending more money in the long run. But you gotta get what works for you. Don't let the BX owners hear me say that though.

The M-series are of course standard manual shift transmissions. It seems many people on this forum love HST. But I have driven the 7040 and 8540. The gearbox is smooth and very, very nice.
