Woods RM990 or other choice for FM?
About to buy a finish mower to go on my JD 5205 (56HP 4WD). I've been using an 84" Woods medium duty rotary cutter for a few years reclaiming an old pasture and have been happy with its build quality. Now looking for a better cut/finish.
My local dealer will sell me a new Woods RM 990 for $3800 (list is over $5K). He recommends the Woods for pasture as it hasa swing away blade design, much like a bush hog, but claims it delivers a lawn quality cut.
Is this a good choice? Any other mowers I should consider in this size range?
I'll be mowing about 20 acres of open pasture and lawn.

I too have a Woods 84" medium duty rotary cutter and have been pricing a Frontier branded RM990 finishing mower. List was $5507.00 and the dealer wanted $4100.00. Sounds like a deal to me. So far my Woods mower has been bullet proof. Their paint could be better though.
Sorry, can't help you on any other mowers. Primarly, Woods was all I looked at because it was either Woods or the Bush Hog brand around here.

I have the RM990 and love it. It is built like a tank and produces an excellent finish. You can even mow wet grass with it if you have to. I paid around 3700 for mine over a year ago. I mow 10+ acres in less than 3 hours.

Sounds like a good deal.
We got a Woods PRD8400 84" finish mower last summer for around $2100 after $500 trade in. Mows great behind our Ford 3000.
