Long story short - my teenage son drove Papa's tractor into the pond.

So I am cleaning, fixing, etc

My problem is we havn't seen the manual, yes we do own one? in a couple of years.

So I am at a loss for what type and how much fluid to put in the front axle.

This is a Case 495 (199?) with the MFD front axle.

Can someone advise me on what kind of fluid to use in the axle and hubs?

Also, what are the fill procedures?

If memory serves there is a spot in the front axle fill that you add oil until its covered. On the hubs they are put to 12:00 and filled till it comes out the hole.

Is this correct?

Front hubs should only be filled half way with 90wt gear oil. If you fill it to the top the seals will blow out.

It's a bit unusual for someone to come up with a question to which no one knows the answer and posts it right away. But at least another new member answered.

Welcome to Tractorbynet, both of you.:)

I've always used 90 wt in the ZF axle, some people use hydraulic fluid the same as the sump.
