Hello all

I have been looking for another used tractor and have noticed these models seem to go fairly resonable. Are some years better than others ?
I know years ago I worked for a guy who had a 1370 which seem to work just fine back than. What do I need to look for ? Are they problems with a lot of them ? On the surface seems to be a good value for the size.

Thanks
Robert

Unless you are very familiar with old Cases, I suggest you do not buy an old Case, just as it would be wise not to buy anything you are not familiar with. Even the 2294s are like 23 years old now. When I think of Case, I think of Powershift trouble.

Transmission and powershift trouble is what they are feared for here...There are many around but only for light work like pulling a grain cart or spraying generally.
I find something like a ford TW or MF 2000series can be bought as cheap as a case and have far better reputations.

when my family sold the farm in 95 we had three case tractors with the power shift a 1370, 2470 and a 2390. I have seen the 1370 and 2390 split for transmision trouble. the 2470 was sent out for repair by the new owner a year after it was sold. I think the tractors are nice to run with this transmision but not with out trouble. I have run newer case ih tractors and one a 5120 had over 19,000 hours and I don't think it ever was split. Much better set up than the ones we had.

The IH's like Magnums or 5250's etc are excellent and rareley give trouble...Good engines in those old white ones though..!
