I have an IH 574 diesel tractor that starts right up and idles fine, but when I try to accelerate, it dies. Was told it has a broken throttle shaft, but not sure. Don't want to remove injector pump until I know more. Anyone face this problem and have any advise? thanks, Roger

Mine has the same problem. It will run slow and just above idel but when you advance the throtal it pops and then dies. I was told it was a fuel problem, trash in the tank or sucking air at the filters. I havent had time to check this out. Trying to finish the shop.

If you'll 100% sure that your tank is clean (free of rust, dirt, etc.) and your filters are clean, you may have a problem with your injection pump. Hope this helps.

I got to thinking about your problem and I remembered that my tractor has died on me as I was trying to increase the throttle a couple of times. I remembered that the governor hadn't opened up. Could be that the governor is sticking or that it is getting worn or out of adjustment.
