International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
I am looking for someone familiar with the International Model 2424 "Industrial".
I have a broken front spindle/kingpin assembly and need to find someone who has the right parts to fix it.
The part that broke is the portion that attaches to the wheel (right hand). the part number is 369143-R1
The splined section, that goes through the vertical spindle/king pin support is 8.25 inches long. I can get replacement assemblies but these have the splined section as being 12 inches long. The splined shaft is welded to the "wheel shaft" knuckle, so getting a 12 inch version and cutting it down won't work without first removing the heavy weld. Unless these come as two pieces.
Does anyone have any info on this Industrial model?

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
I have an International 424 that I would like to sell as a parts tractor. This tractor was nearly restored when it suffered a major fire. The fuel line carrying diesel to the injector pump was positioned right next to the battery cable. The cable wore through the insulation and shorted out against the fuel line. Great spark, lots of fuel. It has a loader, it had 4 new tires, only the left rear tire is good now. The engine area got real toasty, but the transmission and back looks good.
I know nothing about IH tractors as I sell late model Japanese imports. I just took this on trade. I would think somewhere out there someone could use this for parts, and use the loader.

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
Interesting, I've got a International 454. I wonder if there are any similarities. The loader sounds interesting. I'm just a ways south of you near Aburn. I worked in Palo Cedro on a remodel job for a little over 2 years driving through Red Bluff.
I'll have to check into it. Of course John Miller may come along with scads of info which would shorten my search. Rat...

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
You amaze me Mr Miller! My 454 resembles the IH 2424 but is considerably more streamline. I'm looking at the picture to see if there are any loader mounting areas. The 454 has massive, I mean massive loader connections points. I have a 1972, IH 454 D with about 1600 hours total time. While the 179 cu in diesel is only 3 cylinders, it is very smooth and loves to be lugged. I often mow with a 84" finish mower with the 1000 RPM PTO but at half the engine speed, thats about 1100 emgine RPM. Because of the slow engine speed, I mow in 4th or 5th gear even on the hills. Thanks for the information, Rat...

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
That's great info on the differences in models. This 424 has a really stout loader on it. Of course the tractor has been burnt, so all the cylinders are suspect. Rat, we get up to Auburn all the time delivering tractors, the next trip is Tuesday. Nice area! Stop by some time and check out the toasty 424. Dave

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
John, I have a IH3414 Industrial tractor with a 3100 backhoe. Can you give me the specs. I know the motor is supposed to be the BD154 diesel, but it has been replaced with a gas engine. The motor was mfg by waukesau in June 1949 and sold to the Oliver tractor co. Thank you Clif

Re: International 2424 \"Industrial\" frt kingpin assy
John, I forgot to add the serial numbers(if that would help)
Tractor 3414 - serial # 2994DW
I know I have an early model because I have the smaller diameter brake disks.
Backhoe 3100 - serial # U1111
I got the tractor # from the plate on the transmission and the backhoe # from a plate on the main boom.
For those who are interested the waukesau model # is 180GA-1B and the serial # is G2 748058. I called a waukesau rebuilder with the serial # and they called Waukesau. I got back the model # date of manufacture and who Waukesau sold the engine to. After looking at the Oliver tractor models available for 1949-1950 the model 66 is the only 4 cyl gas engine tractor I found.
