Tractor
INTERNATIONAL 30
I am new to this forum and have a problem with the PTO on my Tractor.
It is a 1957 International 30HP Diesel. I was Bushogging and got the
blades hung up on a stump. The PTO disengaged and the Tractor stalled.
The tractor still runs fine , but the PTO won't re-engage. Has anyone
seen this problem before?

er.....not that tractor in particular, but i once thought my pto wasn't engaging, turned out the shear bolts on the pto shaft had sheared, and i couldn't see them under the plastic shield. the pto was actually moving fine. the shaft just wasn't engaging.

From your brief description, I'll take a wild stab, and guess it's a 350 Utility..?? I've attached an exploded view of the 350's PTO drive. In the parts description, it mentions a "seasonal drive". That would be in the box pictured below. This was an option, and may not be one yours.

Take your pick of the weakest links... The coupler ahead of the PTO drive shaft, or that seasonal coupler, if so equipped... Most of those internal PTO drive shafts on the smaller tractors were hollow tube shafts. If it stalled the tractor @ full throttle, and if it is not the shear bolts on the external pto shaft, there stands to be a good possibility you may have broken a coupler, split that tube, or broke a gear.

Problem could also be in the linkage that pressurizes the clutch pack.
