Still looking for my first big tractor. Came upon the DB990. What do you suggest i check out on this tractor? Any opinions on it and acceptable price range. This one is listed for 4000. Thanks for helping me out folks.

We have a Case 995 same thing as the David Brown. We bought it used many years ago, it has power steering and a canopy. My brother checked it out, and I am no mechanic so sorry I can't help on that. The only drawback we have found is the brakes don't work worth a darn just like the brakes on our Case back hoe. We use it on a flat land farm, so brakes aren't really used much.

It has been a good tractor for us for a long time; can't help on the price either as I haven't seen one for sale in a long time.

Good luck

David Brown 990 tractors had a problem with crankshafts breaking. Mine broke while idling while I attached a plow. No cranks were available when the dealer (Case) did a worldwide search. Couldn't even locate a used one. Ended up getting another tractor. Case finally made a batch, but the price was over a thousand dollars.

1490 was famous for this due to 3 bearing crank with a turbo .
