Hello All -

There is a 2000 Case 360 for sale in my area and it looks like just what I need for laying water and electric lines and digging foundation trenches etc. on my property. Price is a little high based on Machine Finder comparisons but in the ball park. The soil on my property is hard clay, is this unit up to the challenge? Any other comments on this machine would be appreciated.

I have never used one but im sure the usualy machine logic follows Be wary of fresh paint, excessive oil leaks, suspect hydraulic hoses. If you dont know anything about that type of equipment, its well worth taking someone who does along with you to check it out. Either way it sounds like it could be fun!

I have a Case 360 BH/trencher.

When I first purchased it, I cleaned it up and used it a little.

Mine has the chain type digger in the front, and D100 BH on the rear.

The manual fuel pump was all messed up, so I replaced it with an electric.

Mine has the Wisconsin 4 cyl engine. As far as checking things out, look at the fluid, crank the engine ans give everything a good workout.

Look at the hyd for leaks, look at the tires, check for a spare tire.

Maybe he will let you dig some holes with the BH, and use the front trencher.

Check the drive system for fwd and rev.

I have ATF in the hyd system, but HY-Trans is also used.

JJ - Thanks for weighing in however since you own/ed one of these machines I was really hoping you would comment on it's performance. Would you buy another one given your experience? Went and looked at the trencher and everything works and it appears not to have been abused. Just really don't know if the convenience of owning one outweighs the cost vs. renting exactly what I need.

The 360 was such a good deal, with BH, that I could not resist.

What little I used it, it worked very well.

Even if it had a vibratory plow, you use it for what you need, and then do work for other people, from laying cable to sprinkler systems.

Could even rent it out.

I also have a Davis mini-sneaker, which is a vibratory plow.

Appreciate your comments, decided to rent a trencher or BH when needed. My project list is way to long to add another vehicle to maintain.
