Hoping someone can help me ensure the clutch is the problem before I split this tractor.
I was mowing with my Case JX60 with 1200 hours. All was fine but noticed that the PTO shaft was turning slowly. I depressed the clutch just a little and the PTO sped up again. The jx has a 2 stage clutch so I looked at the PTO cable and noticed it had a lot of slack. Using the adjustment I took up the slack and fired up the tractor. I engaged the PTO and it ran great but when I let out on the clutch I didn't move! I put back some slack in the PTO cable and tried it again. Now the tractor clutch worked but the PTO shaft slip although not as much as before.
I need to know if this is symptomatic of the clutch starting to go out?
Thanks for any help or suggestion.
