Re: CASE 644 ENGINE
Very nice! What pump and drive adapter did you use?

Re: CASE 644 ENGINE
The pump is a Vescor AP20011D880, SAE"A" mount 4000 RPM-3000 PSI
The adapter is a Vescor #6024, SAE "A" 2 bolt 5.00" FF
This is a METRIC adapter "PEM-G"
I took off the pull starter assy and machined a plate and welded a shaft
that accepts the case fan for cooling the oil!! It mounts up to the
pull start cog assy holes in the flywheel.

Re: CASE 644 ENGINE
I guessing that you installed the 10 HP version of the China Diesel engine? How would you rate the performance of it? I've been thinking about doing a diesel conversion to a 448 one of these days. I don't have the machining skills you obviously possess but I think that I could get it done. The biggest problem is finding time for another project.

Re: CASE 644 ENGINE
JN,I bought a 10 HP china diesel from CARROL STREAM MOTOR CO.
$615.00 AND FREE SHIPING..
It starts right up even at 31 deg. (thats as cold as it has been) and
runs great. Has a lot more torque than the 14 hp Kolher and just
dosen't bog down when working the FEL hard! And it just SIPS fuel.
The Kolher was putting me in the poor house with GAS..
LOVE IT

Re: CASE 644 ENGINE
I know about the fuel consumption. I purchased a Cub Cadet 6284 4 x 4 compact utility tractor with FEL about two years ago. It is powered by a 28 HP Perkins diesel engine. Since then I have added a 6' 3 point finish mower and a 5' bush hog and it is amazing how much work I can get done on a gallon of fuel. And it just SIPS fuel
I also have an Ingersoll 448 with Onan engine that I mow with. It was a noticeable improvement (fuel economy) over the Murray lawn tractor with 18 HP B & S engine that I had before that, mainly due to the larger mower deck. Still, the diesel is king for mowing the most lawn in the shortest time and using by far the least amount of fuel.
I would not want to remove the original engine from an Ingersoll/Case tractor if it runs good, but if I found one with a blown engine I'd seriously want to dieselfy it for sure.
