Back in 97' I bought a new 2700 Forester chainsaw made by Poulan.
It worked great for about 5 years then I bought a new Stihl 025 and put the poulan in the barn.Poulan has not been cranked at all for a few years.
Today I replaced the fuel lines in the poulan and it fired right up!
I let it idle for a minute and slightly revved it with 50:1 mix.
Question: What is the proper gas/oil ratio?
I'm thinking it is supposed to be richer than 50:1

Thanks,
The Stihl is my favorite...

I have 2 Poulans and a Stihl. The Poulans take a 40:1 gas/oil mix. Yours is probably the same. Hope this helps.

My poulan wants 40:1 and the stihl is 50:1 so I just run them all on 40:1.

I think, without looking etc, that your right it is richer than 50 to one but.

I got a poulin about same age as yours,it took a richer mix, well than got a echo,it takes 50-1 mix. For a couple years made two mixes, than said to heck with that and just started using the 50-1 mix for echo, its now run many, many hours on that mix and runs as good as new.

Forget the ratios, but it was richer than echo.

So,it evidently don't have to be exact,as long as your using a good oil,I use echo oil.

40:1 is definitely the correct mixture according to the Poulan website.

Now I can get the rest of the life out of the 12 year old saw.

Thanks for everyone's input!
