I use this method for my small or big saws (or both), as well as for the
gas can and face shield. My Husky Rancher has the 2-ft bar, so it sticks
out a little. If you look closely, you can see where my axe is mounted. I
do most limbing with the axe.

If you do a search, you will find a couple of scabbards that others have
made.

That is very nice - I've been thinking on the same sort of additions. It still irks me a bit that JD does include such accessories considering the prices they charge.

When I do add a carrier it will never hold anything Makita. Worst tool I've ever owned is a Makita DCS401 16" 39cc chain saw. It is a complete horror - runs for about 10 minutes then quits, and will not restart until it is cold again, tried everything I can think of. Adding insult to injury it has a "Happy Start" sticker next to the compression release. Sorry, rant mode off.

Makita is the maker of many of my tools: 12v drill, 9.6v impact driver,
9.6v diamond saw, hypoid saw, recip saw, finish sanders. All have been
great, and never a problem.

The chainsaw pictured is the no-longer-made DCS34. I had an accident
where it got smashed while cutting a tree down. Blade was bent 90-deg
and housing broken. The case parts are too expensive, so my repairs
have been custom. Except for the vulnerability of the plastic, this has
been a great saw. I had a low end Stihl CS170, which was inferior.

I once rented the big Makita DCS54 chainsaw...it was awesome. I would
have bought one but my Husky was tons less $.

I know. I own other Makita tools and have been well pleased with them all. But I tell you this Makita chain saw is so aggrevating I lose objectivity whenever I see one. I once called Makita, they volunteered to repair it. Probably the coil, they said, which is $150 (plus labor / shipping). It's not the coil, spark is fine, anyhow no coil on earth that I can lift is worth $150. Bought a low-end Poulan for $90 for light work and potential saw-ruining work (stumps, etc.), it works beautifully, along with the old Homelites I own. Someday I'll finally give up and the Makita will become a target down at the range.

Sorry guys, hijack is over. NICE tractor!

I glued up some plywood for a scabbard. Handy addition and keeps the saw off the ground. Always worried it would get run over, and now don't have to chase around to where I last set it down.
