Does anyone know how to tell if my 357xp is the EPA version? I'm guessing it's not but it makes a difference when it comes to the piston and cylinder. I'm not up to date on the whole EPA thing but thought it just had to do with a catalytic converter in the muffler.
I pulled the muffler and noticed some scoring on the piston. I got it used and I know I worked the heck out of it on some very hot days. The saw has more than earned it's keep and for $200 (for a non epa) or $170 (EPA) I can get a new jug, piston and ring. I can also check the fit of the carb to the jug to see if it's leaking air and leaning the saw out.
