A new sharpening system

Well , not really new , it's been tried time and time again . This system may just work ,even though I thought it was a joke when I first read about it . I've linked the entire thread . It goes on for something like 7 pages . The Video of the system is in post # 8 .
But , If You have the time the whole thread is worth reading .

Hey , it might be a good thing for those that don't have the time or inclination to learn how to sharpen a chain .

I had a craftsman power sharp saw around the same time . It's the reason I learned how to sharpen a chain . That's also why I thought the idea was a joke when I first read it.
But , Oregon may have gotten it to work . They certainly seem to have put a lot of time and effort into it .

Its not a bad idea for homeowner that uses their chainsaw once or twice a year for storm clean up, a blade would probably last them 10+ years and its easy fro them to maintain an edge. I will probably go a traditional route for sharpening my chain till I get good at it, then look at gadgets. The same reason I worked an axe for a long time before I decided to get a chainsaw. You can always learn something from historical methods.

To me, it is a gimmick that I won't be interested in trying. But how fast others buy it remains to be seen.

Cool! I actually participated in some of their market research. I spent about 20 minutes with a couple of Oregon guys. They asked all kinds of questions about cost, time, display in store etc. I got two free Oregon hats out of the deal. This was about a year and a half ago so it's cool to see it come to market.

I didn't know there were only three ways for us to sharpen our saws{according to their site} We either do it manually send it to a shop or leave it be. Dang I better take my electrical sharpeners back. This thing is a crock, I won't waste my money

Read the fine print. PowerSharpｮ chain is as durable and hard-working
as other Oregonｮ 3/8 pitch, low-profile chain. Then it goes on to say no special tools needed or down time to get sawing again.
Looks like this gimmick is a special tool and all it takes right now is a $3 file and 5mins and your back at it the old way :confused2: . :laughing:
