Well, if I do ever get the sucker started I'll find out whether I got the stops adjusted properly. I looked at this when the wheels were turned all the way and the stops never touched at any point, so I made them touch in all positions.

Does your tractor ahve part number 27, the jam nut? I have not seen the thread pull out of part 26 but have seen it work loose and unscrew from the piston rod if the jam nut was not tight. We had several tractor arrive in 2004 without jam nuts and had to add them.

had the tie rod on the steering brake , on my Nortrac at 65 Hr On the tractor , i only have 67 on it now .

I've had a tie rod end break but not the tie rod or end threads themselves.
Mine was from abuse where I drove the front wheels over some boulders which forced them apart. The ball shaft in the joint broke.
