loader problems

I was using my tractor to help back a truck off of a trailer and had to lift up on the back of the truck and now my loader will not lift or tilt. I still have power steering and the 3 point hitch will go up and down just will not lift weight. Do you think a rebuild of the pump is what is needed or do you guys think I blew a seal ? What about the propotional valve?Any info would be great. Thanks fellas.

What tractor is it on and what brand loader? Lets say its a 254/284 Jinma which is most common with the Jinma ZL-20 Loader. The way its plumbed is pump, loader, priority valve, then on to the 3 point and steering. Since you have steering and 3 point you pump is fine. I seriously doubt you blew all the seals in all 4 cylinders.

My guess is a stuck pressure relief valve in the loader valve. It would allow the 3 point and steering to still work. Try taking it apart and cleaning.

It is a jimna 284 and can you point me in the direction on were to start looking. I"m a pretty decent back yard mechanic but hydraulics are something I haven"t really messed with. Like I said 3 point will wok with no weight on them and they have always been a little slow. Thanks

I can have my son lift up on the controls and pic up the bucket (with a friend help) and the bucket comes up and stays until you relieve the pressure with the controls.

A few questions-
What loader do you have?
Did your loader work OK in getting the truck off the trailer?
When did you notice that the loader was not working?
Are you saying that the 3 point hitch will not lift weight?
Has it lifted weight in the past?

It could be a weak pump but if all your other hydraulics work,Cris is prob. right if your lifting on the truck exceeded the pressure relief on the loader it could be stuck open.If you look under the loader operation handle you should see a adjustable type valve (has threads on it) for adjusting,take it out but note where it is now to see if there is debris in it

There was nothing in the vaive you told me to check so I'm thinking a weak pump were is the best place to plum in a guage to check. Thanks for the helpfull hints so far.

We have a 5000 psi gauge that we put inline of the pump discharge we have quick connects on each end to install inline.

Before you go any farther if you have a spin on hydro filter down by the starter take the filter off and check inside for a broke white plastic piece. The piece in question caused some problems about 2 years ago on a rash of tractors. Its the bypass and it broke and logged itself so there was a restriction. I would check this next. Will not cost you a dime but some dirty hands and time.

I had the same problem on my loader and my backhoe, all jinma brand on a JM254. The pressure relief valves are built in a way that they can bind for what ever reason. I've had to dissasemble and reasemble a couple of times . Nothing is ever broken just out of place.
