I have a Farm Pro 2425. I bought it used and don't know if the cylinder head has ever been re-torqued. It has about 83 hours on it now and I want to get it done. Can someone tell me what the torque for the head bolts is in american terms? I am not much into metrics. I want to torque the head and set the valves lash.

It may depend upon which engine is in the tractor. Consult the engine manual for the metric specs, they're likely in Newton-meters. Divide Nm by 1.3558 to get ft-lbs

I've been using that same program for quite a while now. But it didn't include the conversion for Nm to ft-lbs (or vice versa). I had to edit it in myself. Not a difficult edit, I just found it curious that the one I was specifically looking for at the time - was missing.

That's odd Greg.
How long ago did you down load your version?
I too have been using the Josh Madison Convert Program for at least 5 years now. Mine had that conversion already in it under the "Torque" tab. You can see it in the photo below. That program has worked wonders for converting everything I've needed.

Quite a few years ago actually. You could be right. Another thing I used the program for back then, was hydraulic lift capacity. Maybe it was Newton>lb-force. I don't actually recall which specific conversion I had to add, other than it included the metric Newton unit.

I have all kinds of conversion information packed away somewhere. When I became part of a cost cutting effort last December after working about 40 years in the design/engineering field, they escorted us out of the plant, and had people pack up our offices.

All my printed reference materials ended up in cardboard boxes.

All my electronic references remained on my company owned computer. I never had a chance to copy my shortcuts or favorites to maintain my links. I think I actually had this program on my work computer.

As a mechanical engineer I'd be embarrassed to say I worked in the engineering department and couldn't convert from Nm to ftlb.
