Thanks very much for your help. The tacho on the foton doesn't have any lines at all just the revs. As you said the slasher seemed to cut really well at around 2000 - 2200 RPM
Just guessing .. most mowers and brush-hogs have a reccommended operating speed .. especially in regards to safety. I have a Jinma 354 .. has a two speed pto, and the knob was labled Backwards ... oops. Sooo ... cranking up a 6" chipper ... sounded kinda fast ... duhhhh
Visually just looking at the pto shaft .. it's obvious .. but, who wuddah thought .. knob was back a**wards. Anyway .. HF's gotta photo-sensor tach for $30 on sale for keeping stuff that spins working safely. 66632
