2006ish Jinma 284, broke Left turn steering knuckle arm
Hi guys,
I was cleaning snow and making big pile of snow, then I noticed the left steering knuckle arm was broken because I wasnt able to steer (the top part had mostly popped out of its place)... maybe i tried turning my wheels while in the hard snow (with full bucket) but I am not sure when it broke.
I manage to reverse into the garage for further investigation, I raised the front and this is what I had..

removed:

i'll try welding it with 7018 rods but I doubt it will hold. I noticed there were 2 of these on the web, Normal and Short (they look the same).you guys know which one should I order ?
Am I pushing this tractor too much?
thanks!

Jose:
You should be able to weld it, not sure if those are cast STEEL or cast IRON, you will need to find out which. Cast in either case will need to be pre-heated with a big torch, (after prepping it) with it good and hot weld it up in stages and quickly bury it in some heated sand. let it cool slowly...
If it is Iron use Ni-Rod on AC setting using several passes.
You may have to bolt it all in place and tack weld it real good then remove for final welding.
MarkI may remember why I went to the other end of the shop, I'm just afraid once I get there I'll forget how to get back!

The part number is 254.31.160, if you google that you'll see it's available from a number of sources, about $100. Or you could try welding it.
