Jinma 254
Hey guys,

New to the forum, have just purchased myself a nice little Jinma 254 tractor, with i believe a KM385 engine in it. Has 120 hours on the clock. From what i have read, the first thing i want to do with it is re-torque the head bolts, and check/adjust the valve clearance. Neither of which have been done by previous owner who owned it from new.

Does anybody know the valve clearances for a KM385 engine?

Also the head bolt torques also would be great.

Planning on writing up a sort of "how to" specific to this engine. Let me know if you can help me out, would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Sounds like what you need is a manual. Have you contacted Eastwind or any other tractor importer down there?
Northern Tool also has manuals.

Or even closer still Tractors in Perth - Circle D
It's probably quite likely that your tractor came from this dealer as they are the only one in Western Australia at the moment as far as I know. It's where my Jinma 254 came from.
I now have 200+ hours on my Jinma 254 without any major problems and am overall very pleased with it.

The data you need for the KM385 engine is

Inlet valves 0.25mm (.010")
Exhaust valves 0.3mm (.012")
and the head bolt torque is 110 ft/lb

Cheers

Andy

Thanks mate, i got some info from Circle D but i dont think it was correct, reguarding the valve clearances.

I have since found out from a manual, that they are:

Inlet - 0.20 - 0.30mm
Exhaust - 0.25 - 0.35mm

I'll be going somewhere down the middle. Thanks everyone for responses, i now have a full manual.
