I have found a 1999 Case 90XT skid steer for sale locally they want $8500 for it, my plan would be to buy it use it around the house to move rocks (Texas hill country, lots of rocks), fix the drive way, build a garage and whatever else. When all that was done I would then sale hopefully for what I had in it.

I don稚 know anything about skid steers, rented a bobcat once, probably 12 years ago.

Are these good machines compared to other skid steers?
Is it worth $8500?
It has 3350 hours on it, is that a lot?
How are parts priced compared to other brands? Are they easy to get?

Thanks

The XT90 was made from 1997-2005. 74 hp and 2450 lbs lift. Good sized machine. The 1999 model would suggest most of the issues of a new model have been worked out. I don't have personal experience with that model. 3350 hours is getting toward the higher end for a machine I would own, but would depend on condition. $8500 is a great price for that size, if there are no mechanical issues and the cosmetic condition is good. I had a Bobcat 1998 873 (about the same size as the XT90) that I bought in 2002 with 1100 hours with cab heat for 15K from a CAT dealer who wanted to unload it. I did some cosmetic touch up, paint, decals etc. Traded it in in 2007 for a used 2006 Bobcat S300. Dealer gave me 18.5K for the 873. If your only planning to put on 100-200 hours and resale, you shouldn't get hurt at that price. That size of machine can do a lot of work.
