Thanks for the info, and I do agree if a plant{tree} is a pest then it's better to rid it of the area so that good plant life can carry on.

I will steer the thread back to the FTX 148-L now. Machine is SWEEEEET. it will have 250 hours by the end of the week. The 148 has cleared almost 100 acres since I got back from Ddivinia's place in mid August. I love it and would reccomend this machine to anyone looking for a new mulcher!

Okay question.
Why would you buy a 200h.p. carrier with two 140 h.p. carriers already? To me the Prentice and Fecon are very similar. I'm sure Hendrix has spec'd the Prentice higher on flow but trust me you cannot have higher hyd h.p. than engine h.p. On paper it looks good but in the field it doesn't pan out.
Now if you are to get rid of one of the 140's or you just like that size for weight and it fits your specific needs then your good.
I personally would go up atleast 100 h.p. increments if upgrading tractors. I think SSP&M have a good combination of machine's. Similar to what you have just they stepped up on the larger unit.
Now if I can just get them to a demo with an excavator and see if that fits their plans any. We are starting to get some interesting options for excavators.

You're averaging 2.5 acres per machine hour?

im not that good at math...but if he cleared 100acres in 250 hours it would be .4 acres per machine hour

Yep.. 2.5 hours/acre or .4 acres/hour.

The answer to your question is really pretty simple...I only need 200 horsepower. I could get a Barko but I will just waste fuel. All of my work has a 9 inch limit. The reason I am getting the Prentice is because of the tires. The rocks out here are crazy, right now I am able to go around the rocks but that luxury will end soon

Th mac had 140 hours on it when I left ddivinias place. Getting about an acre per hour.
