I'm trying to address a water drainage issue on the side of my house and was planning on using PVC pipe set in pea gravel with felt. Is it okay to use white pvc pipe with the drilled holes vs. using green pvc pipe with drilled holes. I've notice that green pvc is double the price.......any thoughts or suggestions is appreciate.

Thanks!

I believe the only difference is in the wall thickness of the pipe.. The white sewer and drain is adequate for footer drains.

There is Schedule 20, 35 and 40. Has to due with the wall thickness. #20 works well.

White stuff is generally schedule 40 (don't use the really thinwalled stuff..it's pretty much garbage). Schedulae 40 with holes drilled will be fine for a French drain.

Just yesterday I was in a plumbing store and saw 3" white PVC pipe with a wall thickness less than 1/8" -- I would guess even less than 1/10".

Color doesn't mean very much. The specifications for the pipe are usually printed on it.
