Does anyone have a newer Kohler, Yanmar, Hatz air cooled diesel under 10 hp.

How do you like them? How are they in the cold?

I work in the industry and so far the new kohlers have been good motors. I don't know anything about newer small hatz, but previous larger hatz were very cold natured. The did not like the cold.

I have 3 air cooled Yanmar's and they start good.
My generator has an L70 Yanmar with an intake grid heater similar to a 5.9 Cummins.
The military Yanmar generators have 2 stacked intake grid heaters to allow starting well below zero.

The L70 is a new 2012 military surplus unit with the intake grid heater and extended 3 quart oil sump with a spin-on bypass oil filter.
The L90 and L100 not sure.
All 3 start very easy on the first pull

Glad to hear they start with a pull. I heard you need to get them in electric start for winter use.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

I heard that 25 hp and under aren't substantially modified to meet tier 4 final, is this true?
