Hey everyone...I'm having an issue with my cub. I get about 3 hours of cutting time from new, original cub deck belts. It seems the belts stretch and then no longer want to stay on and come off. It seems to me a shorter belt would help my problem. The lever arm where the spring attaches, actually contacts the belt when this problem occurs. When the belts are new, the arm is probably a half inch away. Anyone else have this issue?..I think about a 1 inch shorter belt would solve the problem. Ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

Are you using a aftermarket belt or Cub Cadet? The Cub cadet Part# for a GT46" deck is 954-3039. I have a 1864 with a GT46" deck and this is what the part # that I use. I looked up the GT 46" (321-190 mower deck belt) number for a 1641 and 1864 they use the same one.

OP - unless you are cutting some heavy growth, for that belt to stretch that much within 3 running hours indicates something wrong in the belt "train", possibly a failing spindle bearing, sheave, idler pivot, etc. A careful visual inspection while running (be safe) for any vibration/wobble etc. followed by a hand check of all pulleys etc. for wobble/loose play with drive belt disconnected just might uncover a culprit or two... particularly if the tractor/mower have accumulated a fair number of hours...
