Do you have the manual for your 2450?
I have the same tractor so I looked at my manual and is says:
"Do not operate the Hydro Static Transmission pressure release lever while the engine is running"
    So I would say no.

Ihave often wondered how you pushed around a hydro witha backhoe . I would get a stick long enough to hit the go pedal .
