International harvestor made the very first ones then its a long line of fubar stuff
Made To Destroy makes them now except for the cub cadet yanmars which are now just a yanmar. of course to give MTD credit their commercial line of stuff seems to hold up fairly well. And their 4 cycle weedeaters are the toughfest beasts around
