Default What oil for a 1050?

I have a 1050 that is due for its first oil change. I see no mention of synthetic oil in my paper work. I was wondering if any body used it in there Kohler engines. I use synthetic in all my other equipment. I would like to use Rotella 5W40 because that is what I use in my big tractor and both my atvs. Thanks

Rotella after break in would probably be fine. I use it in my diesel truck, my 2000 ALH-engine VW diesel car and my KTM dirt bike. It does not go in my '06 VW diesel however. Have to use a specific oil for it or cam damage occurs.

I've stuck with Kohler oil in the Cub so far.

You should use Rotella 10w30.
That's the reccomended grade for the 1050.
I use Castrol GTX in mine.

Bob I use RT 5w40 in my Kohler Command 20 and have for the last ~4yrs/120hrs. The engine purrs like a kitten. You'll have no issue with it.
