last set i priced were nearly $1/pound.

I would make sure the weight isn't a misprint plus shipping would be up there. Too big for my little tires, But try it and let us know.

mmmmmm imagine a wheel that is 5" thick (at the rim) and 31" in diam....

its seriously large... so the weight does seem to be possible

If you attached it only to the axle, you could make your own spinner rims. Paint them a contrasting color and you are set to go.
