Default Small fan mounted on your tractor to keep you cool in hot weather?

Am looking for a small fan that you can mount on the tractor and connect it to the battery or to the wire and it won't drain much energy from the battery. Do you have it on your tractor? What does your look like and where did you buy it, and price range? I tried looking for one on Tractor Supply Online and no luck. But found one on Agri-Supply website.

I got one similar to this 12 Volt Heavy Duty Metal Fan RP-1179 - $19.99 : for our Ford w/cab but no a/c. works well in summer with the windows open.

Hello..before we got a/c cabs we would use the fans that goes in front of the raditors in cars. You can get used one at junk yards for $10 to $25.00. We then mount them under the roof just a 2 wire hook up. Hope this help some.

reddog we used them just not enought air but better than nothing. With my ideal you can just look for one that will cover the whole underside of roof.

How bout those defroster fans with a metal safety cage we used to screw to the truck dash for keeping the inside glass clear of fog in winter, then turn it around to cool you in summer.

One of those could mount on the hood, facing you or on a fender, or better yet, somewhere handy up on the ROPS. A switch and fuse wired into your system should work, I would think.

Must admit I like Howierd3866's great idea of the car electric radiator fan, mounted up overhead. A soft, (safe) rubber blade might help?....(unless you need just a little off the top please).

Good Luck with it guys !

PS: ...ah yes, just went back to the top and checked the links of Heath and Reddog. Yup, .. exactly what I was talking about. Swivel fans, plug into the lighter etc. Should have checked it prior to posting and wasting your time. Sorry.

I put one of these on about 3 years ago and it works great.

It seems that the only time it isn't keeping me cool, is when I'm using the backhoe... and i believe its pulling hot air from the vertical exhaust, so i just turn it off.

If I'm pulling a bush-hog or using the FEL and moving around it keeps me cool just fine.

I just bought a used golf cart that has a fan mounted to the canopy. It is about 14" in diameter and boy does it move some air. You might check some of the golf cart places to see what they have. Only problem is I dont know if it runs on 12 volt or 36 volts, but on high, it feels like a helicopter is hovering over you.

I use computer fans, often called 'muffin fans', come in 12 VDC or 110 AC and commonly sell about $10 range.
Generally measure 4" X4" X 1" and draw less than 1 amp.
The design is such that they move one heck of s lot of air for their compact size and the low amperage draw was a deffinate must for my tractor as the alternator is not all that big.
2 mounted inside my cab pushes enough air that even the biteing insects can't come in to attack me, LOL. ( around here we have deer fly, horse fly and all the rest of the critters that carry away chunks of meat)

Generally available in electronic surplus or wholsale supply houses.

Radio Shack is a good place to look for them.

Installed the $5 fan on canopy today. 5 bucks from Wal-Mart, yes it does work.
